Defect detector south of Riceboro         
This old defect detector is south of Riceboro off the HWY where track use to cross the road. I have been told that this was the first defect detector the railroad had.

Eugene Cain General Correct..in 1960, SAL installed the first "talking" Hotbox Detector right here just south of Riceboro. This is reported to be the origional concrete structure that housed all the equipment. The Defect Detector was pioneered by the SAL and is in use nationwide today!!! 8/4/2012 6:02:02 PM
